Part Three of Birmingham Revealed: Join us the first Thursday of each month beginning February and unwind with Vulcan as we reveal the people, places and events that have helped shape our dynamic city.

Bobby Horton: The Stories of Alabama Folk Art
Bobby Horton is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, and music historian. He has produced and performed music scores for ten PBS films by Ken Burns including “The Civil War, and “Baseball,” two films for The A&E network, and sixteen films for The National Park Service. Since fall 2010, Bobby has been considering how to translate Alabama’s amazing tradition of folk art into sound and story. Bobby Horton: The Stories of Alabama Folk Art is the result of his study of the connections between music and visual art in Birmingham and the region. After Bobby’s performance, get a sneak peek of works featured in The Music Lives On: Folk Song Traditions Told by Alabama Artists exhibition, opening April 15, 2011 in Linn-Henley Gallery.
