Culture and Connection: Examining the Gee's Bend Interviews

In the late 1970s, journalist and folklorist Kathryn Tucker Windham interviewed and recorded the residents of Gee's Bend, Alabama. The Archives Department at the Birmingham Public Library has about 30 of the interviews. Kelsey Bates, director of development at the Birmingham Public Library, will discuss the interviews and the residents' comments on cooking and eating traditions, politics, religion, and family.
