Tour de Brewers is a special event held twice a year in conjunction with Tin Roof, Avondale Brewing Co., Cahaba Brewing Co. and Good People Brewing Co. This run & ride, starting at Tin Roof and including stops at each of the existing downtown breweries, raises awareness of and money for The Dannon Project. Since the first Tour de Brewers in September 2012, the event has grown from 200 runners to a projected 700 runners and riders for the September 2013 edition.

Tour de Brewers 3 – Tailgate adds the fun of local football rivalries to the event this year. When registering, participants can identify their team preference, Alabama, Auburn or UAB/other. The “team” with the most registered participants will be honored with the prestigious Founders’ Trophy. The Founders’ will be displayed year-round at Tin Roof Birmingham for bragging rights for the year.

Tour de Brewers 3 – Tailgate Edition is sponsored by The Mayor’s Office of the City of Birmingham and the Community Policing & Revitalization agency.

The Dannon Project was founded by Jeh Jeh Pruitt and his wife, Kerri, in 1999. The organization was named after Dannon Pruitt, Jeh Jeh’s youngest brother, who was killed by a person who had recently released from prison on a non-violent offense. Kerri believed that if this young man had a strong support system after his release that he would probably have made better choices about how he used his time maybe preventing Dannon’s death.

The Dannon Project is the “Point of Contact” within the community to provide supportive services, case management and referrals to several at-risk populations, specifically non-violent ex-offenders, unemployed, under-employed youth and adults, which will result in permanent employment, housing, improved and sustained health, mentors counseling, stable families and significantly improve poor social behavior.

Prizes from Alabama Outdoors, Avondale Brewing, Cahaba Brewing, Tin Roof, Good People, and others will be given away throughout the day.

We will have music from 12:30 ‘til 2:30, then FOOTBALL on the big screens!

There will be A beer at each brewery while on the run/ride, Collector’s item, limited edition tee shirt, Great prizes, and Food & Drink specials all day long at Tin Roof!
