Bombers & Bombshells Ball

Wednesday, August 26th from 7:00 – 11:00 pm the Southern Museum of Flight will have the annual Bombers & Bombshells Ball to support the Mary Alice Beatty Scholarship.  In the spirit of 1945 we will pay tribute to the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII (Aug. 14).  We encourage all to dress in 1940’s attire or military dress.  

Meet the Bombshell Pinups of the 2015-2016 SMOF Bombshell Pinup Calendar that raised over $4,000 for the annual $5,000 scholarship.  Calendars will be on hand for sale that evening.  The Bombshell cover girl, Mandy Frye, will crown the Rosie Icon and award them with the two night stay package from Ross Bridge Golf Resort and Spa. The runner up will recieve a one-night stay at the Tutwiler.

Meet the real historic Rosie the Riveters and Rosebuds at the American Rosie the Riveter Association Booth and assist Operation Gratitude and write letters to our troops over seas. Meet the Birmingham Flight Center staff and grab information on flight lessons.  Purchase the 2015-2016 Bombshell Pinup calendar for the scholarship and apply to be considered for the 2016-2017 calendar.  Take your picture as a modern day Rosie the Riveter in the Rosie photo booth. Enjoy a free swing dance instruction by Steel City Swing and swing dance music mixed by celebrated Birmingham DJ,  DJ Coco.   Your ticket includes one drink ticket free at the soldiers cocktail canteen from 7-8 where you may enjoy Ambisax with Les Fillmer.  Additional drink tickets are $5. Drivers Licenses will be checked at the door and wrist bands will be provided.
