Learning to sew can be very intimidating and overwhelming, particularly if you’ve never seen the entire process from fabric selection to garment construction. It has been our experience, that many want to learn, but are sometimes unsure of where to start or may have attended a “learn to sew” class only to leave feeling as if they learned very little or nothing all. While the fashion industry is a billion dollar industry, we are now living in the time of “Do It Yourself or DIY” and being able to make one’s own clothes is at the top of the “craft makers” list. According to the 2010 Craft & Hobby Association survey, crafters, such as sewers are “motivated by a feeling and a sense of accomplishment.” And we at Sip ‘n SewcializeTM want to be part of that experience.
Sip ‘n SewcializeTM is open to all sewing levels. The goal of this event is for participants to walk away “having learned how to sew” with a usable, finished project in the allotted time. We ask that participants have some working knowledge for threading their machines as very little time will be spent covering this process.
The objectives of Sip ‘n SewcializeTM are:
a. Operating and machine basics
b. To learn basic sewing terminology
c. To use basic sewing tools
d. To use a few basic stitches for garment/accessory construction
All participants must be at least 21 years age. ID will be asked for proof of age.
Participants must bring their own machine, including user Manual.
