Southeastern Outings Dayhike in Paul Grist State Park

Paul Grist State Park is one of the state’s most uncrowded, yet scenic state parks containing hills, forests, fields and a large, beautiful, tree-lined lake.  Potluck Lunch Details: Prior to the dayhike we will get together at the smaller pavilion right near the Park Office for a group potluck picnic. Please bring a dish of food to share with the group. You may bring a bag of potato chips, but if you do, you should bring some more substantial food to share in addition.  Please bring also $2 per person ($1 for children age 6-12 and seniors age 62 and older) park admission and a beverage for yourself.  Southeastern Outings will furnish plates, cups, knives, forks, spoons, napkins, and ice.

Dayhike Details: Hike rated easy as there are only a few ups and downs.  Total hiking distance is approximately 3 miles.  We plan to walk all around the lake.  Well-behaved, carefully supervised children age 10 and over able to walk 3 miles without complaining are welcome.  Please bring your drink and wear sturdy footwear. 

Some hikers will bring desserts.  We’ll gather to eat them together after the hike.  Optional group restaurant dinner after the hike.  Reservations not required for this outing.

Depart promptly, at 9:00 a.m. from McDonald’s Galleria.

DESCRIPTION OF SOUTHEASTERN OUTINGS

Do you wish you had friends who share your active lifestyle and enjoyment of outdoor activities?  Then become active with Southeastern Outings (SEO), a nonprofit organization committed and created to serve people who enjoy being active in the outdoors.  The organization plans, organizes and leads outings such as dayhikes, easy kayak and canoe trips, stream and waterfall walks, bicycle rides, lake events and other fun activities to beautiful sites in our natural environment.  From time to time we also sponsor potluck suppers and other socials.  All events and activities of the group are open to the public.  Participating in SEO activities is a splendid, simple way to make congenial new friends who enjoy the outdoors.

NO DOGS OR SMOKING ALLOWED, PLEASE, ON ANY SOUTHEASTERN OUTINGS EVENTS.

The organization currently has over 400 members.  We scheduled eighty-eight events during calendar year 2016 for an average of 7 fun events per month.  We enjoy the outdoors in all seasons throughout the year.  Twenty-six people on average have participated in each outing since January 1, 2017.
