University of Montevallo music professor Joseph Landers will present a recital of his compositions today at 2:30 p.m. in the Hoover Public Library, 200 Municipal Drive. Performers from UM and the Alabama Symphony will play several works, including the premiere of Landers' String Quartet No. 1. Admission is free. The American premiere will take place Jan. 20 in New York's Carnegie Hall. Landers discovered the orchestral parts to the score while cleaning house at a Lindenhurst, N.Y., music library, then reconstructed the full score. Collapse
