The Birmingham Public Library is hosting quilter Aisha Lumumba’s work in the Fourth Floor Gallery of the Central Library. The African American History Makers Quilt Exhibition includes more than 20 quilts of noted African Americans, including President and Mrs. Obama, Oprah Winfrey, and the late Billie Holiday. Lumumba’s quilts are in the collections of Ambassador Andrew Young, The Atrium on Sweet Auburn, and President & Mrs. Obama.
