All About the Mushrooms of the Southeast

This class will be an exploration of some of the most commonly found mushrooms of the Southeast. We will examine the characteristics and taxonomic divisions of the Dikarya, the “higher fungi” – which includes Ascomyces (sac fungi) and Basidiomyces (filamentous fungi). The primary focus of the class will be on identification of various species. Weather permitting, we will include a short foray into The Gardens to look for fungi to identify. Participants are encouraged to bring mushrooms they have collected.
