Calling all readers and philosophers! This group is for anyone 1) interested in reading a series of mind-blowing books and 2) keen on discussing their readings and unlocking the wonder behind every word contained in these masterpieces. We drink delicious concoctions from Saturn Birmingham’s well-stocked coffee lounge and bar, and embark on a grand adventure through the pages of the books listed on the meticulously-crafted reading schedule. We meet twice a month, though only one book is assigned monthly. This way, we aren’t hard-wired and mentally gridlocked while trying to cram all 400-500 pages of a work into one discussion. Every book gets two discussions in a month, so please read the first half by the first monthly meeting. The August book is Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk, so we will meet on August 23 to finish Chapters 15-30. We will also have a separate event to watch the movie as a group–look out for this on the website!
Please join the Meetup group if you are interested! It is the best way to receive notifications, alerts, invites, etc. It is also the only way to truly RSVP to the event.
