Faculty Recital, Nothing Like a Stage

Enjoy an evening of music with Joe Hopkins and Chelsea Nicholson exploring the intersection of opera and musicals through the last three centuries. One moment they will be singing Mozart, and the next crooning to Rodgers and Hammerstein. When looking at the history of Opera and Musical Theatre, it is easy to pick out the differences between the two; however, it is an undeniable fact that they hold just as many, perhaps more, similarities. As we spend the evening examining the likenesses found in Opera and Musical Theatre, the audience will find themselves in the middle of the biggest likeness of all: the power of storytelling through music.
