Gay Dads of Bham (Ages 21+)

We meet the first Wednesday of every month at 6:00pm at the Magic City Wellness Center located inside the UAB Medicine building on the corner of 5th Avenue South and 32nd Street South.

What do the meetings look like? Each month, we gather at 6:00 for about ten minutes of casual conversation. We spend the remainder of our time together in a guided conversation over topics that are important to who we are as gay dads.

Some topics we’ve covered in past sessions include:

-Navigating the Holidays as a Gay Dad
-The Lies Gay Dads Tell Themselves
-A Foot in Two Worlds: Integrating Our Lives as Gay Dads
-Top Ten Reasons to Date a Gay Dad
-Finding Community as a Gay Dad
-Getting Real about Parenting
We do have some ground rules for each meeting:
-Confidentiality: what is said in our group, stays in our group.
-Respect: We respect everyone, regardless of our differences.
-Keep an open mind: we’re all learning.
-Presume good/Give each other the benefit of the doubt: he’s doing the best he can, with the information he has.

Who attends the monthly meetings?
All gay dads are welcome! Many of us have kids from a previous straight marriage, and there are gay dads who have children
