Gouache is a water-based medium that can be layered like oil paint. Due to its fast drying time, you can paint light over dark or dark over light. It is extremely portable (the best medium for travel) and dries to a lovely matte finish. It can used for tight renderings, as well as quick gestural paintings that capture the essence of a scene. In this class we will explore painting in an impressionistic manner on 9×12 or 11×14 coated paper or board that will allow the paint to move around more. Our initial warm up will include tips on brushwork, color mixing and paint consistency. We will also discuss how to finish and frame without glass. You will need only 8 small tubes of paint (7 colors, plus white).

UPDATED CANCELLATION POLICY: Cancellations made 14 days or more in advance of the workshop will receive a refund equal to 50% of the cost of the class. Cancellations made within 14 days of the event will not receive a refund. This will help ensure that the instructor will be paid for their time and effort of teaching the workshop.
