Guinness Book of World Records® Attempt for Largest Human Shield

The Salvation Army is attempting to break a Guinness Book of World Record for the ‘Largest Human Image of a Shield’! The event is to commemorate the launch of the Angel Tree and Red Kettle season for The Salvation Army.

Join us at the UAB Campus Green on Friday, November 16, 2018. Event registration begins at 5 PM and will close at 6:30 PM. Every participant will receive a free hooded sweatshirt, which is mandatory for each person to wear during the formation of the human shield. We must stay in formation for a total of 5 minutes in order to break the record.

The actual record attempt set-up will begin at 6:30 PM with the timed record attempt at 7 PM. Everyone is welcome! Bring your friends, your small group, your sorority or fraternity, your family, or your neighbors! We need 319 people to break the current record and we want 450 participants! We will have a bounce house for children, hot chocolate and snacks.

*Children are welcome to participate, BUT please note they must be able to stand in the formation area for at least 30 minutes for group formation/organization and timed record attempt. If you think your child will be unable to stand in the area for that long, please reconsider as any break from the official count during the record attempt will forfeit the attempt.
