The 2021-2022 Cathedral Concert Series presents the Cathedral Choir and Orchestra in a concert of sacred music by Mozart, with Angela Yoon, soprano; Charles Kennedy, organ; and Frederick Teardo, organ and conductor.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is easily considered one of the greatest composers to have ever lived. Celebrated for his symphonies, operas, chamber music, piano works, and large-scale choral works (the Requiem being the most performed), Mozart also composed a considerable amount of stand-alone works for choir, such as his beloved Ave verum corpus. The concert will also feature works written for mechanical organ and performed by our Cathedral Organists, as well as several of Mozart’s Church Sonatas, which are satisfying short works for strings and continuo that are not often performed.
