This exhibition is inspired by our Nappy Roots! event and Kerry James Marshall’s School of Beauty, School of Culture.

In collaboration with interculturalist & naturalista, Bettina Byrd-Giles, we celebrate National CROWN Day and the CROWN Act of 2022, which prohibits discrimination based on hairstyle or texture. Celebrating the rich diversity of Black hair and culture, this exhibition honors the significance of the CROWN Act and the beauty of self-expression.
