In this program’s North American premiere she presents compositions that are completely rooted in Bharatanatyam, and yet they will have a new perspective to the evolving Bharatanatyam vocabulary.
Rama Vaidyanathan is known for her fresh approach to Bharatanatyam, and for her unique choreographic skills. While pushing boundaries in the choreography, she goes beyond the form to give visual imagery to poetry in different Indian languages. The program will have solo as well group presentations along with a live orchestra comprising of young talented musicians.

Commissioned by Vancouver’s Mandala Arts and Culture, Sannidhanam is a new work choreographed by the world-renowned Indian Bharatanatyam artist Rama Vaidyanathan. It is inspired by the significance of symbols in Indian philosophy, using the precise grammar and lines of Bharatanatyam to depict a sacred geometry. Performed by eight dancers including Vaidyanathan, this is an unmissable opportunity to experience the work of one of the most celebrated Bharatanatyam dancers of her generation.
