Rehearsal for Murder

Playwright Alex Dennison is left heartbroken when his fiancée and leading lady Monica Welles is found dead from an apparent suicide after the opening night of her stage debut. On the anniversary of that ill-fated night, Alex assembles the same cast and crew in the same theatre, for a reading of his new play. It soon becomes clear that Alex believes Monica was murdered and his new play is a devious cat-and-mouse chase to uncover her killer. As the reading of the new play begins, startling connections to the murder begin to unfold. The growing tension reaches the boiling point with surprising revelations, countered by others even more surprising. The dazzling, yet basically logical twists build to a climax and solution that are theatrically stunning!

Directed by Donna Love, the cast is led by two of South City’s best actors from last season’s production of I Hate Hamlet.  JJ Marrs takes on the challenging lead role of Alex Dennison while Lisa West appears as the dead leading lady, Monica Welles. These two headline another first-rate cast of SCT veterans and newcomers that includes Charles Rogers, Rhett Barnett, Benjamin Kitchens, Lee Drew, Tyler Costley, Steven Ross, John Love, Kelly Nguyen, Robin Rushing, Valerie Brock, Lesli Johnson, and Ann Elliott Drew.
