Wideman Davis Dance stages Migratuse Ataraxia within traditionally white antebellum domestic spaces to reimagine the historical presence (and absence) of black servitude and bondage while deconstructing notions of intimacy, home, history, and care that are often called upon to romanticize such spaces. Migratuse Ataraxia de-territorializes the space and challenges notions of freedom and movement through racialized spaces, creating a politically and emotionally charged dialogue between the artists and the audience.
