The World Oyama Karate American Cup Championship Tournament is coming to Samford University, Seibert Gymnasium, in Birmingham, AL on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at 1:30 P.M.. ADMISSION: Doors at Seibert Gymansium at Samford University open at 12:30 p.m. for competitor registration and ticket sales. Competition begins at 1:30 p.m..
TICKETS: Tickets to the World Oyama Karate American Cup Championship Tournament are available at the World Oyama Karate International Headquarters (Honbu) at 1804 29th Ave. South, Homewood, AL 35209 or at the door on April 8th. Tickets for adults and older children are only $15 for the entire event. Children 5 and under are admitted free. Admission is included with the registration fee for competitors and one additional person/coaching assistant per competitor.
COMPETITION REGISTRATION: Competitors can register in advance (strongly encouraged) or at the door beginning at 12:30 p.m. before the tournament begins at 1:30 p.m. on April 8. KATA (forms), semi-knockdown KUMITE (fighting), and full-knockdown KUMITE (fighting) competitors can get application forms at World Oyama Karate International Headquarters (Honbu) at 1804 29th Ave. South, Homewood, AL 35209. There will be semi-knockdown divisions for children and for adult men and women. Competitors will also be divided into groups according to age and skill level. Due to the very high skill level required to compete in the world-class, international Knockdown Karate Championship and for safety considerations, applications for that main event must be reviewed and approved for participation.
