The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama serves as a home-away-from-home for the families of sick and injured children who must travel to Birmingham for medical care. The RMHCA has served over 32,000 families from counties across the state of Alabama, throughout the United States, and international community since it opened in 1979. Without the House, families would have to sleep in waiting rooms or their cars, or travel back and forth between their homes and the hospitals. The 41-bedroom RMHCA provides a place to sleep, to do laundry, to cook meals, to check emails and to entertain other family members.
