Anne Markham Bailey Book Signing

at The Abbey

On October 7, 2016 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at The Abbey, writer Anne Bailey launches her most recent book of poetry, Nancy Marguerite’s Chopin. The chapbook, a single poem in 3 parts, was published by Green Bucket Press. The launch event also includes a sneak preview of Green Bucket Press products.

Bailey, a graduate of Barnard College at Columbia University, holds an MFA in Book Arts and an MA in Creative Writing. She is a published poet and founder of printing company, Markham Bailey LLC.

The poem explores Bailey’s relationship with her mother and the re-collecting of stories that shape the past. Bailey opens the work with images of mornings as a young girl on the piano bench sitting beside her mother, Nancy Marguerite Perrin Bailey, who often played the Chopin Preludes. Nancy Bailey was the librarian and journalism teacher at The Altamont School from 1970 – 1992, and fed poetry and literature to her daughter as well as to many former Altamont students during her career.
