Experience the history and legacy of the Civil Rights Movement on our 1963 A Civil Rights Experience Half-day Tour.
This tour will take you on a journey through the city, where you’ll see the historic sites and landmarks that played a pivotal role in the fight for justice and equality. You’ll visit the 16th Street Baptist Church, the site of a tragic bombing that claimed the lives of four young girls. You’ll see Kelly Ingram Park, where protestors faced violence and brutality from the police. You’ll also explore the Fourth Avenue Business District, where African American entrepreneurs built successful businesses despite facing discrimination and segregation. You will also visit the cemeteries where the soldiers and victims are resting and see that segregation extends even to the grave (flowers will be provided). Our expert guides will provide context and insight, bringing this history to life and helping you understand its relevance today. This powerful and eye-opening tour will deepen your understanding of the Civil Rights Movement and its ongoing impact on American society.
