Southeastern Outings Dayhike at Point Mallard Park and Dancey Bottoms

Southeastern Outings Dayhike at Point Mallard Park and Dancey Bottoms

Presented by Southeastern Outings at Hayden/Corner Park and Ride is meeting place

The hiking route offers very scenic views.  The Point Mallard Park portion of our walking will be on a trail right along Wheeler Lake, an impoundment of the Tennessee River.

While we will be in a wildlife refuge for the Dancey Bottoms part of this hike, the trip is primarily a hike and not a bird-watching trip.  That being said, after the hike is concluded, we anticipate going to the Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge Observation Building where we can view a variety of birds including several species of waterfowl and probably a huge flock of sandhill cranes.  Bring a picnic lunch and drink to eat on the trail.  Rated fairly easy.  Well-behaved, properly supervised children age 9 and over are welcome.  Optional dinner after.  Meet 9:00 a.m. at Hayden/Corner Park and Ride.

NO DOGS OR SMOKING ALLOWED, PLEASE, ON ANY SOUTHEASTERN OUTINGS EVENTS.

The organization currently has about 300 members.  We scheduled ninety-one events during calendar year 2015 for an average of 8 fun events per month.  We enjoy the outdoors in all seasons throughout the year.  Eighteen people on average have participated in each outing since January 1, 2016.

SEO does not charge for participation in any of its outings.  You do not have to be a member to participate in one or two SEO activities.  Dues are only $10.  Please contact Dan Frederick, President, 205-631-4680, or seoutings@bellsouth.net for more information and to obtain three free monthly newsletters with membership application and a complete description of all our outdoor events.
