There will be four months of great programming exploring the themes of displacement and diaspora globally. Be a part of the book clubs by picking up our Stories of Exile book selections at the Fiction Desk!

HPL is the only Alabama library that was awarded the “Stories of Exile” grant, a program of the Yiddish Book Center for teens and adults to reflect on themes of displacement and diaspora. Along with book discussion groups, the library will hold an opening reception on Tuesday, September 5th at 6 pm featuring Rabbi Josef Friedman, an expert in Yiddish, and Olena Vyshyvanyuk, a recent refugee from the Ukraine working as a case manager for Inspirtus. Books for discussion will be distributed at this event.
