Ticket To Write…for those who know almost everything about rock’n’roll! The debut screening sold out in September at the Don’t Knock the Rock Film and Music Festival in Los Angeles, California and now Emmet O’Neal Library and Road Ahead Productions, LLC are pleased to bring it to YOU!

Ticket To Write is a 90-minute documentary film that explores the “golden age” of music print journalism. These were the days of Lester Bangs, Richard Meltzer, Dave Marsh and others. Rolling Stone, Creem, Village Voice, Hit Parader. Rock magazines were the central fountain of information for many kids in the 1960s and 1970s. This film starts with the founding of Crawdaddy! magazine in 1966 and marches through the next 15 years, ending when MTV changed the rules of the game in 1981.

Ticket To Write features Billy Altman, Ken Barnes, Robbie Cruger, Robert Duncan, Ben Fong- Torres, John Morthland, Sandy Pearlman, Ira Robbins, Gene Sculatti, Jaan Uhelszki and Ed Ward, plus Cindy Lee Berryhill, widow of Crawdaddy! founder Paul Williams.

Ticket To Write is directed by Raul Sandelin, whose previous film A Box Full of Rocks: The El Cajon Years of Lester Bangs chronicles the adolescence and early writing career of the legendary rock journalist.

“Doing a film about Lester Bangs drew me into the entire world of the rock journalist, music reviewer, writer, critic…whichever term you prefer. This film seeks to reveal that world,” Sandelin said.

Ticket To Write is produced by Edward Turner of Road Ahead Productions, a Birmingham, AL, entertainment company specializing in producing indie films and music documentaries.
