"Emotional Creature" Theatrical Production

Presented by Birmingham-Southern College Dept of Theatre at College Theatre - Birmingham-Southern College

A cast with female leads will share the heartbreak and thrills of being a girl in Birmingham-Southern College’s second stage production this fall, Emotional Creature, from Nov. 17-20.

The play was written by Tony Award-winner Eve Ensler, who wrote the provocative Vagina Monologues. It will be directed by BSC senior Meryem Tunagur, wo designed her own major in theatre educational psychology. BSC Professor of Theatre Dr. Alan Litsey is the faculty sponsor for the production.

Emotional Creature is made of up original monologues, spoken word pieces, and songs—all about and for girls. Ensler places their stories at center stage, giving full expression to the secret voices and innermost thoughts of a bold new generation of females. It is for mature audiences only.

“I believe the show will start a dialogue about women’s stories and how one women’s story is all women’s stories, and when women support each other, no one can stop us,” Tunagur said.

The play, which is both funny and sad, will feature a 14-member cast and crew.
