Colonial Christmas Lunch and Tour

Colonial Christmas Lunch and Tour

Presented by American Village at American Village

Your luncheon hostess is the young Martha Washington. George and Martha Washington were married on twelfth night, or the twelfth day after Christmas. Martha will tell visitors about how she met George Washington and their courtship.

Your tour includes a visit to Washington’s Continental Army Encampment at Valley Forge. In spite of extremely difficult conditions at one of the Continental Army’s darkest hours, three soldiers reflect and sing about the joy of Christmastime.

A visit to a Virginia settler’s home finds three wives of Continental Army soldiers remembering their husbands and missing them at Christmas. The ladies lift each other’s spirits and dance to celebrate the Christmas holiday.

Eleanor Parke Custis (George Washington’s granddaughter) shares with visitors her memories of her grandfather and festive Christmas traditions at Washington’s Mount Vernon.

Visitors will enjoy Christmas music with guitar accompaniment and sing-along carols in the Lucille Ryals Thompson Colonial Chapel.

See our extensive miniature Christmas Village with 55 buildings, over 150 figurines, and a working Southern Railway train!
