Print Making 101: An Introductory Art Class

Print Making 101: An Introductory Art Class

Presented by Birmingham Public Library at Birmingham Public Library - Central Branch

This printmaking class is a free, one-hour introduction to the art of block printing. Block printing is a process similar to stamp-making, where the negative space of an image is carved away from the block and the remaining design is inked and printed on paper. No prior experience with printmaking or art is required to enjoy this class! Printmaking is a simple, enjoyable, and rewarding process that you can easily continue to practice at home with just a few basic supplies. This class will use rubber blocks as the carving material, so the process will not be strenuous. Participants of all ages are welcome. All supplies necessary will be provided—all you need to bring is yourself! However, this class is limited to ten participants, so make sure to sign up while there are still spots available. This class will be taught by Parker Evans, a local printmaker. Parker’s work can be found on Instagram at @yalldove. This class is made possible by funding from Create Birmingham and is presented by Magic City Art Mart and the Birmingham Public Library.
