LISTENING AT THE CROSS: HAYDN'S THE SEVEN LAST WORDS OF CHRIST

Presented by Music4Romania and The Episcopal Church of Saint Francis of Assisi at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church

Everyone is cordially invited to ”Listening at the Cross: Haydn’s The Seven Last Words of Christ,” which will be held on Wednesday, March 13, at 7:00 PM, at The Episcopal Church of St. Francis of Assisi (www.saintfrancisindiansprings.org) at 3545 Cahaba Valley Road, Indian Springs, Alabama 35124. The concert is co-sponsored by Music4Romania and The Episcopal Church of St. Francis of Assisi and will feature Haydn’s string quartet performed by members of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra – Daniel Szasz, violin; Yuriko Yasuda, violin; René Reder, viola; Lauren Peacock, cello. The music will be intertwined with contemplative spoken meditations on Christ’s last seven words.
”Listening at the Cross: Haydn’s The Seven Last Words of Christ” is part of Music4Romania’s PORTALS 2024 series, joyfully offered free of charge to the greater Birmingham community. Designed in partnership with several non-profit institutions with the aim of encouraging and fostering intercultural communication and understanding through the arts, the series aims to explore faith and spirituality and will consist of three concerts, a Romanian arts festival, and several community outreach projects.
Admission to all PORTALS 2024 events is FREE but donations on site or online will gratefully be accepted to benefit Music4Romania’s mission to make a difference through music. Music4Romania is a 501(c)3 organization and donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law. • Sunday, December 1, 2024, 7:00 PM, Independent Presbyterian Church – “Out of This World.” Featuring Serafina Collart, soprano; Kevin Kozak, French horn; Alexande Szasz, trumpet; Daniel Szasz, violin, among others. With readings from Emil Cioran’s “Tears and Saints.”
