Stage Play: The Watsons Go to Birmingham

Make It Happen Theatre Co., the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, and the Birmingham Civil Rights National Monument are coming together to kick off the Boutwell Auditorium?s 100th Year Anniversary celebration. The centennial will begin by honoring Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a moving stage production of the Christopher Paul Curtis book, The Watsons Go to Birmingham ? 1963, adapted by Reginald Andr? Jackson. The story follows a family?s journey from Flint, Michigan to Birmingham during the civil rights era, highlighting love amidst racial challenges.
