On Saturday, May 16, money raised at the ninth-annual Spring Scramble 5K will benefit the Children’s Center for Weight Management (CCWM) to support the Healthy Active Living Initiative sponsored by the American Academy of Pediatrics.  Hosted by the UAB pediatric residents, the race is also being held to educate and inspire healthy lifestyle choices for all our communities’ youngsters.

The 5K begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by the 1-mile Fun Run at 6:30 p.m. at Brookwood Village, (780 Brookwood Village, Birmingham)  outside the Belk department store entrance, and will continue down Lakeshore Trail in Homewood. Complimentary Parking is available at Brookwood Village. This year’s event will also include prizes, live music and food trucks.

Individual awards will be given for the 5k format only. Awards will be given for the 1st and 2nd place male and female in each age group. Awards will also be given to the overall male and female top finishers (1st, 2nd and 3rd place). Runners must be present to collect their prizes.
