Tuskegee Airmen

Presented by OLLI of Greater Birmingham and Homewood Public Library at Homewood Public Library

OLLI of Greater Birmingham presents TUSKEGEE AIRMEN by Daniel Haulman, Chief, Organizational Histories Branch, Air Force Historical Research Agency, Maxwell AFB, and author of Tuskegee Airmen. The Tuskegee Airmen were the first African-American pilots in American militayr history, and telling their story is especially appropriate during Black History Month.  This presentation will discuss their training, organization, combat experiences, and famous officers; as well as address some  common myths that surround them such as the false “never lost a bomber” claim.  Mr. Haulman’s research is based on primary sources available at the Air Force Historical Research Agency at Maxwell AFB.
