Civil War Living History

Presented by Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park at Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park

Bring the family to get up close and personal with history!  Interact with Civil War soldiers and see them re-enact a skirmish at the Tannehill Ironworks. Kids can participate in a military drill, the infantry will show off their fancy shooting, and the cavalry and artillery will talk about their special role. At the park’s Iron and Steel Museum, see how the civilians back home lived, play toys and games from the Civil War period, and hear 19th century music. Skirmishes will take place at 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the Tannehill Ironworks. Join us before each skirmish for an informational talk at the ironworks explaining the site’s significance and destruction during the war. Talks begin at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Demonstrations will begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue until 1:30. Infantry, artillery, cavalry, soldier camp, and kid-friendly military drills will be at the ironworks. Life on the home front, toys, and 19th century music will be ongoing at Tannehill’s Iron and Steel Museum.
