Cut-Crease-Bind: Small Books Workshop with Tamara Moan, Saturday March 11, 2017 10am – 4pm. Small books are easy to make and customize. Fill them with lists, wishes, drawings and stories or give them away as gifts. We’ll complete four different types of accordion-fold books with and without covers, a small wrap-bound book with folding cover, a stitched pamphlet, and a stab-bound side-opening book with stiff cover.
Bring these supplies: 4 sheets heavy colored paper at least 26″ length, 4 sheets 18×24 drawing paper, 20 sheets printer paper (8 1/2 x 11), glue stick or PVA glue, ruler, pencil, linen bookbinder’s thread or similar, raffia or cord, awl or hole punch, large (darning or book binding) needle, metal ruler, x-acto knife, cutting mat, scissors, bone folder (or butter knife).
Tamara Moan is a visiting teaching artist from Hawaii. She has taught at the Honolulu Museum of Art School since 2001 and conducts classes occasionally on the mainland U.S. She works as a painter and printmaker, showing her work regularly in juried exhibitions.
