A FLAMENCO WORKSHOP in Birmingham, Alabama sponsored by MosaicoFlamenco, introducing Miguel Vargas of Sevilla, Spain.

Miguel Vargas is based in Sevilla, Spain, where he is director of the Center of Art and Flamenco of Sevilla and the Miguel Vargas Flamenco Dance Theatre.  Miguel has taught and performed across the globe and is recognized as one of the greatest exponents of flamenco dance today.  As a master teacher, Miguel brings the beauty, power, and his profound sense and understanding of flamenco to his classes and workshops around the world.Miguel Vargas is based in Sevilla, Spain, where he is director of the Center of Art and Flamenco of Sevilla and the Miguel Vargas Flamenco Dance Theatre.  Miguel has taught and performed across the globe and is recognized as one of the greatest exponents of flamenco dance today.  As a master teacher, Miguel brings the beauty, power, and his profound sense and understanding of flamenco to his classes and workshops around the world.

SCHEDULE

SESSION 1. Friday Flamenco Rhythm Class & Jam – 3/24 @ Private Studio (info. to be provided) 

7:30 – 9 pm INTRO TO FLAMENCO – RITMOS FLAMENCOS:   Rhythms and Palmas (Flamenco Hand-clapping), studying and singing flamenco lyrics and clapping.  End with a few simple moves, if you are moved.   Tangos and Bulerias.  Live music.
All levels.  ** OPEN TO ALL **

SATURDAY FLAMENCO DANCE @ the Dance Foundation, Studio #5

SESSION 2: 10-11 am — Beginner Flamenco Dance Technique, Level 1

SESSION 3: 11:15 AM – 12:30 pm–Flamenco Dance Technique, Level 2 –How to Dance to Cante (Flamenco Singing):  Tangos en Cuadro //Some flamenco experience suggested.  (Lunch Break afterwards) SESSION 4: 2 – 4:15 pm

Money to buy lunch or drinks or flamenco T-shirts!
What do I wear? 
Dancers/Percussionists: Comfortable clothing, flamenco or character shoes (shoes with a thick heel)
