National Association of Composers Concert

Presented by Mid-South Chapter of the National Association of Composers, USA and University of Alabama at Birmingham at UAB - Mary Culp Hulsey Recital Hall

On Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 3:00PM, the Mid-South Chapter of the National Association of Composers, USA will present a concert of new compositions by its members in UAB’s Hulsey Recital Hall.

The program will include “With Solitude and Song” for voice and guitar by University of Montevallo department chair Alan Goldspiel; “Infamy” for solo tuba and fixed media by Mississippi University for Women Assistant Professor of Music Joe L. Alexander; a piece for solo trombone entitled “Soliloquy II” by Mississippi composer Ken Davies;  “Three Pieces for Piano Duet” by Tennessee State University Professor of Music Olga Harris; and three new works for saxophone performed by Vanderbilt University Senior Lecturer in Saxophone Brian Utley, including “Progression” by MUW Assistant Professor of Music Valentin Bogdan, “Eight Treasures of Good Fortune” by Atlanta based composer David R. Peoples, and “Sans Titre VII(B)” by UAB composer and Associate Professor of Music William Price.
