Art On The Rocks!

Art On The Rocks!

Presented by Birmingham Museum of Art and Junior Patrons of the Birmingham Museum of Art at Birmingham Museum of Art

From illusionists to contortionists, breakdancing to Bollywood, and pop-up opera to body painting, Art On The Rocks is gearing up to be the most dynamic event of the summer! The best of Birmingham’s artists, makers, and musical guests come together in one spot for three nights of exciting performances inspired by art and culture around the world.

June Programming:

ART: Guests become the art when local artist LG Waldo creates five-minute portraits. Members of Flux, a multimedia artist collective out of Mobile, Alabama, will construct an interactive outdoor art installation. Museum galleries will be opened throughout the evening including the exhibition Third Space /shifting conversations with contemporary art.

DANCE: Guests will be wowed by an animated breakdance performance by Jordan Brown and Bollywood performances by Aastha Dance.

MUSIC: Gina T will get the party started indoors, while a live band (soon to be announced) takes the outdoor stage later in the night. In the galleries, guests will enjoy pop-up opera concerts by Opera Birmingham.

FOOD/DRINK: Taking design notes from the colors and textures in abstract contemporary work, The Cakerie will have your mouth watering with their confectionary creations. Steel City Pops will serve gourmet pops made with all-natural and local ingredients. Inspired by a painting by Claude Monet from the Museum’s collection, local mixologists have crafted a specialty drink for the night called the Monet Mule. Cash bars will be located throughout the Museum.

EXTRAS: New to the event will be the re-imagined Lounge in the Museum’s front entrance lobby, where guests can mingle and take in the evening’s performances.
