On Sunday, May 28, 2017, the Alabama Veterans Memorial Foundation in partnership with the Vulcan District Boy Scouts will honor veterans at 1:00 PM in the annual Remembrance Ceremony. The Vulcan District Boy Scouts will honor our veterans who have been added to the “Honor List of Alabama’s Deceased” since May 2016.
The Foundation will dedicate StepStones to over forty veterans, living and deceased and from many American states. The StepStone Dedication Ceremony will begin at 2:00 PM.
Come early: view the Blue Star Salute Foundation’s Memorial Exhibit, “Faces of the Price of Freedom” which shows the faces of Alabama’s fallen heroes since September 11, 2001; walk the Memorial Trail and visit the Memorial Plaza and the Hall of Honor.
SFC (Ret) Stephanie Whatley-Farmer will be singing the National Anthem, Bugles Across America will be playing Echo Taps, and family and friends will be dedicating StepStones to special Honorees.
Handicap parking near park entrance; parking attendants will direct traffic to shuttle parking; golf carts available for those needing assistance down the trail; restrooms in Park office building; trail is wheelchair accessible; seating provided in Plaza; all activities are outside; complimentary waters will be available; this event has no admission fee.
