B Active Plan - 2nd Open House at Rail Road Park (Regional Bicycling and Trail Plan)

B Active Plan - 2nd Open House at Rail Road Park (Regional Bicycling and Trail Plan)

Presented by Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham at Railroad Park

The B-Active Plan for the Greater Birmingham Region is intended to identify major roads and intersections that need bicycle lanes, and the best routes to connect major parks and attractions so that people can safely walk or ride bicycles from one to another.

The kickoff of the B-Active Plan was held in April, which generated great feedback.  The next Open House event will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at the Railroad Park Pavilion from 4:00-6:30PM.  We hope that you will plan to drop by anytime to see the results of the public input from the online survey and the mapping tool as our team begins to draft a regional active transportation network.

In addition to viewing the public input results, the Project Team will display regional maps showing key destinations and road corridors that are likely to attract biking and walking, as well as maps that will illustrate the current “level of comfort” for biking on roads throughout the region.  Mapping the existing “level of comfort” of roads will help the Project Team identify barriers and opportunities in the current road system and will ensure that the recommendations of the B-Active Plan create a network of roads and off-street trails that are safe, connected, and accessible.
