The fund raiser will consist of:

• A raffle. at the end of the event, for a  4’7” x 6’7’ silk quilt, made by Gerda Carmichael, from a sari that is iridescent maroon & blue with gold designs
• Silent auction
• Regional costumed dancers that are students of Sheila Rubin
• Regional food and drink

Fourteen years ago, Gerda saw a documentary on TV about the plight of many Afghan children who had little in the way of clothing, or a warm blanket in which to curl up. This film prompted Gerda to start knitting blankets, socks, hats and making quilts. Since then, she has knitted a thousand afghans and sewn a thousand quilts. She has lost count of the number of pairs of socks. These items have been sentto afghans for Afghans and other humanitarian efforts.  afghans for Afghans is a humanitarian and educational organization that sends handmade items to the  beleaguered people of Afghanistan.
