Vaccines, transplant, heart disease, HIV/AIDS, and other hot topics have been all over the media recently. Come discuss and ask questions about these hot topics in medicine and science with experts in the field.

UAB’s APSA chapter is sponsoring an evening for informal discussion and interaction with several prominent UAB physician-scientists in an effort to help temper skepticism and mistrust of the medical and scientific communities. To be held at World of Beer, May 20th, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Free food will be provided as well as lively discussion. 

The event will be structured mostly as a discussion and general meet-and-greet, with approximately 30 minutes at the beginning for our physician-scientist panelists to introduce themselves and their specific area of expertise:

1) Mike Saag, MD, is a world-renounced expert on HIV. He is the director for the UAB Center for AIDS Research and author of the book “Positive” a memoir and manifesto on his experiences treating patients with HIV. 

2) Warner Huh, MD, is an OB/GYN and a pioneer in cancer screening and HPV vaccines (Gardasil) 

3) Stuart Frank, MD, is the division director of Endocrinology at UAB 

4) Nancy Tofil, MD, MEd, is a pediatrician and medical director of the UAB simulation center

5) Rosyln Mannon, MD, Director of Research, Alabama Transplant Center?

6) Sumanth D. Prabhu, MD?, Director of the Division of Cardiovascular Disease
