4th Annual Habitat Dragon Boat Festival. Teams of 20 paddlers race on the Coosa River in an authentic 46′ long Chinese dragon boat.The race course is 250 meters and each team races at least twice. The finals are made up of 8 teams from 2 divisions – Competitive and Recreational Divisions. Award paddles are given for fastest 3 teams in both divisions. Awards are also given for the Best Decorated Tent, Best Team Spirit, Best Drummer Costume and Best Team T-shirts. In addition to the team-building excitement of the dragon boat races, there’s a drummer’s parade, entertainment from the JSU Tropical Breeze Steel Drum Band and the Gadsden Line Dancers, also Kid’s Activities, crafts, airbrush face painting, on-site photographer, food concessions, vendors and more! FREE admission, FREE parking, FREE shuttle. A great day for the whole family! Take a break under the picnic tent and enjoy refreshments. The funds raised from this event will support the housing ministry of Gadsden-Etowah Habitat for Humanity.
