Chicago based singer-songwriter Aaron Wilhoft and musician Bryan Grady will play an E.P. release party at The Nick in Birmingham, for their latest E.P. Everything Together as part of their summer tour of the southeast.
Aaron Wilhoft’s childhood was steeped in music. His father, a choir director, moved his family from church-to-church around the country. Wilhoft encountered country and blues music in Texas, folk music in Colorado and gospel in Alabama, cementing a love for roots Americana that still informs his music.
When he is not working on his first full-length album, Wilhoft is also a visual artist telling his stories in paintings and bone carvings. He is currently composing an original score for a ballet-inspired dance piece with Chicago-based choreographer and dancer Malachi Squires to be staged in the summer of 2016.
“Everything Together tackles love, war and growing up in five quick songs. Wilhoft’s smooth, rapid-fire vocals are emphasized by steady, mid-tempo rhythms. The result is pure Americana with flashes of John Fogerty, Zac Brown, Steve Earle and Uncle Tupelo. It’s good stuff.” – David Feltman, Target Audience Magazine
