Covering Calas: A Benefit Dinner to Provide Shelter and Clean Water in Calas, Haiti

Covering Calas: A Benefit Dinner to Provide Shelter and Clean Water in Calas, Haiti

Presented by Immanuel Church at Continental Bakery Downtown

Calas is a commune within Dessalines, Haiti. The people of Calas are diverse, vibrant, and steadfast, but for many of them their situation is desperate. In the heart of Calas you’ll find a congregation full of life and love. This small church has a huge heart for their community, and they are doing their best to provide food and education for over 80 children in the area. Recently, the space they have been using as a schoolhouse and place of worship collapsed and they currently have no place to gather. They also lack an adequate water filtration system, which means that everyday these children are at great risk of contracting cholera or another water-born illness. Frankly, it’s hard for us to imagine the conditions of everyday life for these people, and they need our help.  Join us for a special benefit dinner on August 16th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. to cover Calas with love and support.  The dinner will include a 4-course meal and live music. During the evening we will share more about the church in Calas, The Haiti Collective, and specific ways to help.
