Presented by Gina T. of 1sharpG.com and Andie A. of Hiploot.com, The Southern Series is back for its second installment of cultural excitement for young professionals and creative entrepreneurs to come and enjoy. This day party event progression features a fusion of music and art and will take place on Sunday, August 9th at Pale Eddie’s Pour House in the heart of downtown Birmingham.

Attendees will be enthralled with sights, sounds, libations and company much like themselves. Alabama’s own DJ PaPaRooster will be spinning and local tattoo artist and visual artist TAY will be live painting and displaying several new pieces.

This event is for the young professionals looking for a fresh, fun scene as well as the creative beings that seek an alternative environment to your average bar or club. So come and enjoy, here in our own city the fun, cool, and eclectic atmosphere that we usually drive miles to discover.

The Artists:

DJ PaPaRooster started spinning in full swing his senior year of high school going into his freshman year of college. A native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, he was inspired by a wide range of musical influences. Though inspiration came in all shapes and sizes, the most essential contributor was his father, who deejayed in college as well. After grasping a basic understanding of different musical genres, PaPaRooster realized that music must be felt in order to be created. New music comes out every day, and this motivates DJ PaPaRooster to create. In the midst of mixing, mastering, styling and profiling from fitting into his rhythm he created his own clothing line “P.A.P.A Clothing”. He created this brand not only to motivate individuals, but to help people realize the importance of making a positive impact in life and to remember those ancestors who helped instill the positivity in everyone’s life.

Devonte Holt a.k.a. TAY is a native of Birmingham, Alabama and has been immersed in visual art for as long as he can remember. As he was growing up, drawing and sketching were skills that his mother and many other family members possessed yet he mentions being one of the few that remained serious about it. As he grew older, he taught himself how to paint and now one of his main objectives is to bring exposure to the art scene in Birmingham and combat people’s misconceptions around not thinking there are true artists here. In addition to visual work, Tay is also an experienced, self-taught tattoo artist at a parlor in west Birmingham.
