Visit the Zoo on August 12 for World Elephant Day! The Birmingham Zoo staff is “Going Grey” for World Elephant Day by wearing grey clothing on Wednesday, August 12. Join us in raising awareness for the elephant poaching crisis by wearing grey to the Zoo on this special day and signing the petition at www.96elephants.org. The Birmingham Zoo needs your help to raise awareness for the 96 Elephants Campaign– an effort focused on securing a U.S. moratorium on ivory sales, bolstering protection of African elephants and educating the public about the link between ivory consumption and the elephant poaching crisis. Be sure to visit the Birmingham Zoo to see the only all-male herd of African elephants in the United States!
