BCRI will present its highest honor, the Fred L. Shuttlesworth Human Rights Award, to Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Horton (D-DC) at its annual awards celebration on Saturday, November 19 at the Lyric Theatre.  The Shuttlesworth award recognizes individuals for their service to civil and human rights causes around the world and is named for the leader of Birmingham’s Civil Rights Movement, Rev. Fred L. Shuttlesworth.  Co-Chairs for the Celebration Committee are Catherine Sloss Jones, president and CEO of Sloss Real Estate Company, Inc. and Dr. Henry Panion, III, composer, arranger, conductor, educator, and Professor in the Department of Music at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
