Southeastern Outings Dayhike at Cloudland Canyon State Park, Trenton, Georgia

Southeastern Outings Dayhike at Cloudland Canyon State Park, Trenton, Georgia

Presented by Southeastern Outings at Unknown

Hike along the highly scenic rim trail around this lovely canyon in Northwest Georgia and then down into the bottom of the canyon itself. The rushing stream in the bottom of the canyon has two good-sized waterfalls which we’ll view close up. Lunch will be on a large, flat rock outcropping from where we’ll have beautiful, panoramic views across the canyon. Fall color should hopefully be at its peak. Please bring picnic lunch, plenty of water, and $5.00 per vehicle park entry fee. Parents, please be aware that there are very high, steep cliffs with no guard rails adjacent to the rim trail. Optional restaurant dinner afterwards. You may wish to bring in the car a change of clothes for dinner, but this is certainly not required. Well-behaved, carefully supervised children age ten and up welcome.

Depart 9:00 a.m. from Applebee’s Trussville.

The organization plans, organizes and leads outings such as dayhikes, easy canoe and kayak trips, stream and waterfall walks, bicycle rides, lake events and other fun activities to beautiful sites in our natural environment. From time to time we also sponsor potluck suppers and other socials. All events and activities of the group are open to the public. Participating in SEO activities is a splendid, simple way to make congenial new friends who enjoy the outdoors.

NO DOGS OR SMOKING ALLOWED, PLEASE, ON ANY SOUTHEASTERN OUTINGS EVENTS.

The organization currently has over 300 members. We scheduled ninety events during calendar year 2013 for an average of 8 fun events per month. We enjoy the outdoors in all seasons throughout the year. Twenty-eight people, on average, have participated in each outing during the first five months of 2015. SEO does not charge for participation in any of its outings. You do not have to be a member to participate in SEO activities. Dues are only $10. Please contact Dan Frederick, President, 205-631-4680, or seoutings@bellsouth.net for more information and to obtain three free monthly newsletters with membership application and a complete description of all our outdoor events.
