The Alabama Museum of the Health Sciences will close at the end of the day on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 for renovations.
They expect to be closed about 5 months.

The Alabama Museum of the Health Sciences, at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, is dedicated to the preservation and display of equipment, instruments and objects that represent the history and development of the health sciences in the areas of education, research, and practice in the United States with special emphasis on the state of Alabama and its contributors to the practice of medicine. The scope of the collection includes, but is not limited to the following fields: medicine, nursing, ophthalmology, dentistry, public health and allied health.

The Alabama Museum of the Health Sciences, the Reynolds Historical Library and the UAB Archives are equal parts of the Historical Collections unit within Lister Hill Library at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. 

The Museum and Reynolds Library share space on the third floor of Lister Hill Library.Take first bank of elevators to the third floor, then enter the double doors on your left. Many events are held in the Ireland Room, which is located through the double doors on your right after exiting the elevator and is then through the last door on your left.
